Course Description

The NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home course is an eight-hour program for law-abiding adults that teaches the skills and attitudes necessary for the safe and efficient use of a handgun for self-defense. Key topics include home safety strategies, responding to confrontations, legal aspects of self-defense, selecting a handgun, and defensive shooting skills. The course includes both classroom instruction and hands-on range time. 
Course components
  • Classroom instruction: Approximately five hours dedicated to topics like home safety, legal aspects of self-defense, selecting a handgun, and strategies for responding to violent confrontations.
  • Range instruction: Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of practical, hands-on training on the range.
  • Skill development: Focuses on defensive accuracy, which balances speed with accuracy, and other skills needed for self-defense with a handgun.
  • Pre-requisite: Requires proof of shooting experience, such as an NRA Basic Pistol Certificate, a First Steps Pistol Certificate, a Concealed Carry Permit, or military/law enforcement experience.

A $50.00 NON-REFUNDABLE registration deposit must be made online. There are no refunds for this class. Due to the nature of the class, attendance is limited. Due to the high demand for this course and a minimum and maximum number of students required to hold this course, once booked, there will be no refund if you are unable to attend for whatever reason. Of course, there are some exceptions that will be considered.
