Dan isa media mogul. For over 25 years, he's worked as an automotive magazine editor for a large publishing company. He began shooting with the editors of American Survival Guide magazine as a writer and photographer in the mid 80's, and picked up a couple of guns and a shotgun along the way. One of his best friends was a Field Supervisor in the FBI, who taught him basic shotgun tactical skills. From there, he was hooked. When it comes to pistols, he started with us getting his CCW, then began practicing and becoming more of a "gray man." It instantly became something he had so much fun doing and eventually decided to become an instructor. Who would've thunk?
As an NRA Certified Firearms instructor, he's achieved an NRA Distinguished Expert ranking in Defensive Pistol. He likens shooting to a martial art; learn the basics, reach a very high skill-level, then go on learning how not to use it. Speaking of Martial Arts, Dan's hobbies are Kenpo Karate, Shotokan Karate, Muy Tai, and MMA, but is building a stronger foundation for self-defense with the use of firearms and situational awareness.
