To us, TJ is the "Grand Pooba" of NRA Firearms Training, responsible for certifying most of our Instructor staff. Having founded the Cal State Fullerton Kung Fu Club in 1971, TJ earned a fourth-degree black belt in the martial arts. As part of that training, in 1986, TJ became an NRA Certified firearms instructor to include firearms training as an essential part of a complete self-defense system.
The NRA appointed TJ as a Training Counselor (TC) in 1990, and he taught new instructors the proper methods to conduct basic training in all five disciplines, plus the new certifications for Range Safety Officer and Reloading classes.
TJ served on the NRA Board of Directors from 1993 to 2000, where he worked on the Education & Training Committee to create the Range Safety Officer training and to improve the Personal Protection (In and Outside the Home) programs.
In November 2000, TJ opened AllSafe Defense Systems, where he offers NRA Basic and Instructor training classes in Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun, plus advanced Personal Protection courses. In 2006, TJ was approved by the Orange County Sheriff to offer the state-required training for the CCW permit.
